In making sustainable transportation more accessible to the student body, we have partnered with Simon Recreation Center and Last Stop Bike Shop to provide students with a campus-wide bike share system. Check it out here!
We have "adopted" the MetroBus stops surrounding SLU's campus! By adopting the stops, we help pick up trash and maintain the stops with the help of Metro to make it better for all people to get around the city!
Alongside Policy Pods, we brought together several aldermen to propose ideas that change the zoning rules to reduce parking minimums within the city, specifically along the proposed Green Line. Check out the passed bill that was inspired by our advocacy here!
In 2024, SLU planned to demolish two historic buildings at 3200 Olive. Using our voice as students, we came to the administration calling for a halt to the demolition. This catalyzed a broader conversation, bringing together various community members, faculty, students and administrators to begin discussions on how the University could better honor and commemorate the legacies of Mill Creek Valley (the historically black neighborhood that was razed by the City of St. Louis and upon which now sits the campus east of Grand Blvd.) The outcome of these conversations resulted in the buildings at 3200 Olive being acquired and saved by the Kranzberg Arts Foundation and now transformed into the Key bar & grill, and the installation of public murals honoring Mill Creek Valley.
In collaboration with the STL Urbanists, we constructed and deployed tactical urbanism benches at bus stops throughout the city in locations with underserved infrastructure.
Every year, we help Citizens For Modern Transit host the College Transit Challenge, a challenge designed to create a culture of transit at the universities in the region, by challenging each university to ride the most transit. We took home the trophy for the first time in 2025! We even made the local news.
In collaboration with Great Rivers Greenway, with the Brickline Greenway soon to be constructed through SLU's campus, we served as a touchpoint in gathering feedback data from the student body for GRG in shaping the project.
Alongside the the SGA Facilities committee, we created a comprehensive reccomendation plan for captial improvements to bike racks & storage on SLU's campus, with signficant improvments being implemented across campus.
Our Transportation Policy Pod has been working to draft a bill to create more equitable and accessible sidewalks across the whole city by reexamining funding structure, meeting with aldermen to discuss the potential of the bill.
We were honored with a board resolution for this work, check it out here!
